The Race Around The World

The logo of The Amazing Race.  “You are team number one!” Yes, I’m talking about The Amazing Race, the race around the world. The show is already more than ten years old and still standing strong as one of my favorite show. In the latest season-Season 21, a team has the chance to win $2 million, that’s a first in the series history. Teams racing across the world, encounter many challengers, enduring the different weather in different countries, fighting to win the enormous prize money that is offered. Different version of the show appears after the success of the US version; this includes an Asia, Brazil and China version of the show. The one thing that I’m impressed with the show is the fact that we see different views or angles of the race from different sets of cameras. I’m not sure how many cameras are there when they are filming, but definitely the filming crew is a huge team. It takes a lot of time to edit the scenes that are captured by multiple sets of camera. What’

Beijing's "China-Big" Mega-Airport

With a massive of population of 1.3 billion people, you know the Chinese always need big facilities to accommodate such large amount of people living in the country. Despite the Chinese government’s effort to control its population, China’s population is expected to hit the 1.4 billion mark in a few years’ time. Beijing Capital Airport, Asia’s busiest airport had already exceeded the airport’s capacity of 75 million passengers per year. Therefore, a new airport is definitely on the cards given the enormous wealth of the Chinese government generated by the country’s positive economic growth in these few years. The second main airport (third in total) in Beijing will locate in the southern part of Beijing in the district of Daxing. The distance from the city center to the planned area is about 30km. A high-speed bullet train has been planned to transport passengers from the planned airport to the city center in 30 minutes time. The size of the airport is almost 7.5km each side.

It's More Than Just A Debate

The first of the three debates between Obama and Romney was held at Denver on 3 October 2012. I watched the first full debate between two US Presidential candidates for the upcoming US Presidential Election yesterday via youtube. A debate about policies, leadership and new, collective ideas between the current President, The Democratic Party representative-Barack Obama and former Massachusetts governor, The Republican Party candidate-Mitt Romney. They will be debating again on October 16 at New York and October 22 at Florida.  There’s another debate between their running mates which is the vice-presidency debate on October 11, between Joe Biden (Current Vice President, Democratic candidate) and Paul Ryan (Congressman, Republican candidate). First and foremost, I would like to say as a non-US citizens, I have no right to comment on who’s policies or ideas is better or who is the better person to lead US for the next 4 years. But, to be honest, I thought Romney was the one who

Andy Murray, Not There Yet

Murray's victory at Flushing Meadows ended Britain's 76 years wait for a male Grand Slam winner.  First of all, I would like to congratulate Andy Murray for winning the 2012 US Open, his first grand slam title. Surely he is now a big sporting icon back in Great Britain by ending the country’s 76 years wait for a grand slam male winner. The last Brit to win a grand slam was Fred Perry back in 1936, when he won the US Open in New York. He shows the world his great mental strength since that Wimbledon final set-back. He went on to win the Olympic Gold Medal just exactly one month after that set-back and now his first grand slam title on his favorite hard court surface. His maiden grand slam doesn’t come at an easy cost. He finally wins his first grand slam after four failed attempts. Both Federer and Nadal won their first grand slam title at their very first grand slam final. While Djokovic won his first on his second attempt. He is definitely one of the talent guys on the

Bye London, Hello Rio!

The logo for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. #London2012 Olympics is now officially over and now all eyes are on #Rio2016 in four years’ time. I think this year’s Olympics lives up to my expectations. Every athletic strive to perform their best, newcomers storm the field with shocking performance and more world records are broken in the process. It shows us that humans can be even better as times come. But after 17 days, one thing still makes me sad, I am going to wait for at least another 4 years to witness Malaysia's first gold medal. Hopefully in 2016, I’ll be able to be at Rio to witness the games or be a volunteer. Well, let’s be fair, the Malaysia athletics perform well at this year’s Olympics. At least, we didn’t see a major flop in our 30 athletics that competes in London. Lee Chong Wei gives his performance of the live, but still so close yet so far, 2 points was the margin between a gold and silver. Well, he did his best, but unfortunately luck was not in his s

How Much It Takes To Win A Gold Medal

The 2012 London Olympic Games is coming to an end. Some countries like Great Britain and Korea did surprisingly well, breaking records and exceeding expectations. While some countries just falling behind the packing order of the list of sporting powerhouses. But, just how much a country invests to win a gold medal? Here, I would like to share some facts and figures to show that government’s investment and a good system plays a very important role in producing world champions. Statistics shows that you may have the best talent, but without good training the talent can’t be grown as a world champion. How much it takes to win one of this? Jamaica dominates the sprint event in recent years despite having a total population of 2.8 million. 58 out of 59 medals won by Jamaica athletics in the Olympics are from athletics event. Most notable athletic from Jamaica is 100m world record holder and double Olympic Gold medalist, Usain Bolt. The heart of the country’s track-and-field pro

Let the Games Begin!

Well, every major sporting event all started with an opening ceremony. This year’s London 2012 Summer Olympic Games is never less the same. Finally, after 4 years of waiting, we are off to enjoy 2 weeks of great and intense competition by the athletics from all around the world. This year’s Olympic ceremony is held at the newly-built London Olympic Stadium which is well situated inside the London Olympic Park at Stratford. Well, here I would like to round up last night’s action with my own opinion in it. Just to let some of you know, the opening ceremony is directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle. The venue for 2012 London Olympic Games’ opening ceremony-London Olympic Stadium, which has a shape of a bowl. The ceremony started with a countdown. 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Off we go! It all started with a two-minute film taking us from the rural times of British to the current modern era and after that it started with a performance of the old British times which sets the tim

10 Sportsperson I'm Looking Forward at London 2012

Of course everybody knows that the 2012 Summer Olympic Games is just a few days away, here I personally picked 10 sportsperson across the world that I am looking forward to their performance at the games.   1. Chris Hoy (Great Britain) He’s the flag barrier of the Team GB at this year’s Olympic Games. He has won 11 World Championship titles and 4 gold medals which include 3 gold medals at Beijing (the first Briton to win 3 gold medals in a single game), winning the sprint, keirin and team sprint making him one of the most successful cyclists in Olympic History. This year, participating in just 2 events- keirin and team sprint events, British hopes are high on him to accomplish the same feat again by winning both gold medals.   2. Bradley Wiggins (Great Britain) After creating history by being the first ever British rider to win Tour de France, Wiggins has no time to celebrate because another great chance for him to create more history. 4

My Russell Peters Experience

*I used some Russell Peters language in my article. The jokes are quoted from my memory, so it might be slightly differ from the original words. I recalled part of jokes by reading thestar’s report on this event, so some of it is the same as the article. Ironically, every sex-themed joke is not mentioned in the article. 2 tickets for Russell Peters show. I bought a pair of Bronze tickets that cost RM128+RM5 service charge. Well, well, well….after those hard work I did for securing a pair of Russell Peters tickets for his first ever live show in Malaysia tickets, I finally got to see the man in person that everybody is talking on FB and youtube hotly. Me and my friend waited at Subang Parade at around 6.30pm, then my uncle pick me up and headed to Stadium Melawati for the show. It was around 7pm, when I have in sight of the stadium, but after 30 minutes I’m still queuing up for the typical KL jam and the real difference is that the stadium keep looking bigger and bigger. Ok, a
