After My Test

By this time of my life, I had already encountered hundreds or possibly thousands of exams, tests, quizzes or whatever similar to these. Of course before the exam, you studied hard hoping to score a good grade in the test. But often the reality doesn’t sound like that. Sometimes you did better than you expected, sometimes worse than you expected. I guess the scenario of the latter happens more often than the first one for me.           Of course, you wait for your results of the test. After your test paper is being distributed by your instructor back, you take a look at the score then flip it through and see what are the mistakes being made then you just stuck your paper into the bag. Does that sound familiar?           These actions above are what most students did nowadays including me. Well, recently I have this professor that allows you to resubmit your test to get extra credits. How it works ...

The Amazing Comeback

Last year, right at this very moment, Nadal was watching the US Open final in front of the TV witnessing Murray winning his first grand slam title. A year later, nobody would ever think that Nadal came back from a 7 months injury with storm by winning the US Open for a second time. When people started doubting Nadal’s ability to win a major on hard court, Nadal once again proved the critics wrong. The numbers does look impressive too. He is still undefeated on hard courts this year and a 60-3 (95.16%) winning record that saw him captured 10 titles.             I remember 2 months ago I wrote an article right after the Wimbledon, saying that we can learn a lot the future of tennis is heading in this US Open. I think we certainly learn a lot in this tournament. Of all answers we found, no doubt that Djokovic and Nadal is the latest tennis rivalry and they are the two best tennis players in the world right now. ...

Tokyo 2020

It was 5.20am (Tokyo time) on a Sunday morning on September 8 when the announcement of the host city for the 2020 Olympic Games was being made. “The International Olympic Committee has the honor of announcing that the games of the 32nd Olympiad are awarded to the city of Tokyo”. The exact words from outgoing IOC President Jacques Rogge as this will be the last time he’s going to be announcing in front of the camera as the president of IOC. Live scenes from a Tokyo stadium shows a break of joy from the Japanese after the announcement was made, celebrating their winning bid. Tokyo will be the fifth city that is going to host the summer games for more than one time after staging the world’s largest games in 1964.           First, let’s don’t talk about the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster in this article. Of all three candidates, Tokyo is indeed the safest choice of all the candidate cities. Japan has a more stable economy c...

The Low Cost Battle

According to International Air Transport Association (IATA), air travel continues to expand in a healthy way. Compare to the same period in 2012, the overall demand for air travel increase 5.6%, while capacity rose by 5.2%. In the region of Asia Pacific, international traffic rose by 3.7% in May with China and Japan recorded 13.4% and 5.9% of growth in their respective domestic market. The statistics clearly show that air travel performed relatively well across the world despite the global economy facing some uncertainty.              Air Asia which is the largest low-cost airline group in Asia is slowly losing its ground to nearby rivals-Lion Air. According to Centre for Aviation (CAPA), Lion Air currently holds 35% of Southeast Asia’s capacity thanks to its extensive Indonesia domestic market. While, Air Asia has a 32% market share in the region with a mere 2% of the Indonesia domestic market. T...

Our Fellow MPs

Recently, thestar did a survey on our MPs (Member of Parliament) with a game of 20 questions. These questions are about local and international knowledge, policies, news as well as other topics like entertainment and IT. It is understandable that our MPs can’t get all the questions correct. But one particular question that asks our MPs how much is the current minimum wage being implemented in Malaysia drew my attention. There are at least 29 MPs answered it wrongly! Out of those MPs who took part, only 61% answered the question correctly!           From this question, you can clearly see that some of our MPs are not doing their job as a policy maker. Basically, a MP’s task is to bring forward the people’s voice to the parliament and solve the people’s problems related to government agencies. They are the group of people that can propose new laws to the government and also questions the minister on issues related to the ...

A(n) ________ Wimbledon

*Another article on this year's third grand slam-Wimbledon. I have posted two articles in a row on tennis because the short interval between French and Wimbledon. For sure, there will be a new topic in my next article. There will be no more new tennis articles till the next slam. In the meantime, I hope you guys enjoy my thoughts and analysis on the recent concluded Wimbledon!            For the British, it’s a long-awaited Wimbledon. For Andy Murray, it’s a remarkable Wimbledon. For Federer and Nadal, it’s a horrible Wimbledon. For Sabine Lisicki, it’s an emotional Wimbledon. For Sharapova and Azarenka, it’s a disappointing Wimbledon. For Jerzy Janowicz, it’s a historical Wimbledon. Not to forget, for the tennis neutrals out there, it’s a roller-coaster Wimbledon.           You can put a number of adjectives to describe how this year’s Wimbledon went depends on which side you are looking from, but you can’t deny it was a pr...

The Nadal-Djokovic Rivalry

It was a five setter, an epic tennis match in which both men trying their best to outwit, outlast and outplayed their opponent. A grand slam tennis match between Nadal and Djokovic doesn’t disappoint all tennis fans. A battle not just only of skills; it is also a physical and mental battle that pushes both guys to the limit. The most impressive part was that even thought they were playing for more than 4 hours, both men were still able to hit beautiful shots and angled winners down the lines. Eventually, Nadal came on top this time beating Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 9-7 in 4 hours and 37 minutes.                When the match was unfolding, I have a sudden thought that the process of the match developed almost identical as the final of the 2012 Australia Open. Djokovic won that match 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 in 5 hours 53 minutes. At that time, Djokovic was serving for the match in th...

My High School Education

It had been a few years since I graduated from high school. As most of your parents might tell you, your high school life is probably one of the best times of your life. Now, I truly felt that way. My high school life was indeed the best time of my life. High school was probably the best part of most teenagers’ life and also the crucial part of a person’s development in the future. How well you developed the skills required? Did you equip yourself with the knowledge required? Are you able to master the skills of communicating well in any language? What are the other skills you obtained outside of the classroom?                These are the parts and pieces that make you who you are right now. Sadly, the current Malaysia education system that is in placed doesn’t really answer all these questions well. When I mentioned the term “education system”,...

The Badminton World Needs Changes

Badminton World Federation, the international governing of body of  badminton.  The body currently has 169 members around the world. The governing body's headquarters is based at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Badminton, the fastest racquet sport in the world holds the fastest smashing speed of up to 421km/h. It’s a sport played by at least two opposing players or pairs. Players are required to strike the shuttlecock and land it on the ground of the opponents in order to score one point. Countries like China, Korea, Denmark, Malaysia and Indonesia are the traditional powerhouses in the sport. But the sport needs some serious changes. It’s sad for me to see one of my favorite sports is going downhill. Everybody including organizations, players and coaches need to change. After that infamous incident at the recent Olympics, word says that badminton is at risk of being kicked out of the Olympics. Well, I think badminton isn’t really that “at risk”, but certainly one of t...

Talent or Money?

*It has been a long time since I posted on this blog. Since this is my very first post of 2013, I wish everybody having a great year ahead in 2013! (By the way, screwed those Mayans who say that the world will end) The judging panel and host of the singing talent show The Voice (Top) and The X Factor(Below). (Top): Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Sheldon and Carson Daly. (Below): L.A. Reid, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears and Simon Cowell.  Whether you are a fan of any talent show, here comes a big question for the producers. Are you guys really interested in searching a new talent or interested in making your pocket richer? On TV, I could say all of them will say the former one, but backstage I’m sure many will pick the later answer. Whether you are a fan of The Voice, American Idol, The X Factor, Got Talent or even Dancing with the Stars, there’s one fact you can't deny, that is the more frequent you turn on your TV to watch these shows, the more mon...
